Valium, also known as diazepam, is used to treat anxiety disorders and provide short-term relief from anxiety symptoms. It belongs to a class of medications called benzodiazepines.
Additionally, Valium is used to alleviate the symptoms of acute alcohol withdrawal, relax muscles, and manage uncontrolled muscle movements associated with conditions such as cerebral palsy and lower body paralysis. It can also help control involuntary movements of the hands (athetosis), relax tight and aching muscles, and, in combination with other medications, treat convulsive disorders like epilepsy.
